A regular beat or pattern in movement
Raising the knee higher than normal walking
Moving arms back and forth opposite to legs
A pattern or arrangement of people moving together
Knowing where you are and avoiding bumping into others
Understanding where pupils are coming from and where they're going
Listening skills during rhyme, following sequential instructions, vocabulary development (march, rhythm, formation)
Body awareness, heart rate changes during exercise, balance and coordination concepts
Understanding beat and rhythm, coordinating movement to sound patterns, exploring tempo changes
Following instructions, helping others, celebrating achievements, working as part of a group
Move around perimeter during travelling activities, central during demonstrations, within circle during discussions
Watch for rhythm accuracy, arm-leg coordination, spatial awareness, and fatigue levels
Step in if students show dizziness, collision risk, or loss of technique
Always demonstrate with students, not just to them. Show enthusiasm and pride in marching technique.
Minimum 8m x 8m indoor space or equivalent outdoor area
Non-slip surface, free from obstacles and tripping hazards
Stop activity immediately if any student shows distress, dizziness, or injury. Provide seated rest and water if needed.
