Racket Control & Shot Strategy

This unit develops Year 4 students' technical badminton skills whilst cultivating tactical awareness and decision-making. Students learn to control the shuttlecock using three core shots - forehand, overhead clear, and backhand - before applying these strategically in competitive contexts. The progression from isolated technique practice to creative shot-making and finally singles game play ensures students experience both skill mastery and meaningful competition.

This unit develops Year 4 students' technical badminton skills whilst introducing tactical thinking and decision-making in a racket sport context. The focus is on building confidence with shuttlecock control, mastering fundamental shots, and beginning to understand how positioning and shot selection can influence rally outcomes. Through progressive skill development and authentic game scenarios, students experience the cognitive challenge of anticipating opponents' moves while executing their own technical skills under pressure.
