•Used for marking jumping areas, approach runs, and barriers
Alternative: Markers, spots, or chalk lines
Set at varying heights with crash mats positioned safely
Alternative: Skittles with canes, or rope between posts
Positioned beyond landing areas for safety
Alternative: Gym mats stacked for height
To mark individual approach distances and starting points
Alternative: Chalk marks or small stones
An athletics field event requiring a sequence of hop, step, and jump in continuous motion
First phase of triple jump where you take off and land on the same foot
Second phase where you land on the opposite foot from the hop
High jump technique where legs move in a scissor-like action over the bar
The foot used to push off from the ground for maximum height or distance
Running path that curves towards the high jump bar to optimize take-off angle
The specific order of movements that must be performed in athletics events
Understanding where pupils are coming from and where they're going
Biomechanics of jumping, forces and motion, muscle groups and body systems, physics of projectile motion
Spatial awareness and direction, understanding of angles and curves, mapping movement patterns
Measuring heights and distances, calculating team totals, understanding metric measurements, data recording and analysis
Teamwork and collaboration, resilience and determination, supporting others, honest self-assessment and reflection
Move between jumping stations to observe technique, position for maximum visibility of all activities
Watch for correct foot placement in triple jump, safe landing technique, proper approach angles in high jump
Step in if students showing unsafe technique, struggling with coordination, or team challenges becoming unbalanced
Use exaggerated movements to show technique clearly, demonstrate both successful and incorrect techniques for comparison, show individual differences in approach preferences
Minimum 30m x 40m clear area for jumping activities, with additional space for run-ups
Level, dry surface free from holes or obstacles, suitable for running and jumping
Stop activity immediately if injury occurs, assess situation, provide appropriate first aid, ensure clear access for emergency services if needed
