This unit introduces Year 1 students to fundamental sending and receiving skills through a carefully scaffolded journey from individual exploration to strategic partner play. The emphasis is on building confidence with ball handling whilst developing crucial early game concepts like positioning, timing, and spatial awareness. Through progressive cooperative challenges, students develop the building blocks for future invasion and net games whilst fostering positive partnership skills.

- • Explore different ways to hit a ball using hands in various directions
- • Practice sending a ball accurately to a partner using hand striking techniques

How can I position my body to successfully receive and return a ball to my partner?

- • Move position to get in line with a ball to return it
- • Get into positions to return balls to partners

How can we work together as partners to send and receive objects successfully?

How can we work together to keep a ball moving back and forth?

- • To develop accurate feeding skills for partner play
