This unit introduces Year 1 students to the fundamental concepts of sending and receiving through a systematic progression across different body parts and simple equipment. The emphasis is on whole-body awareness, safety, and building confidence with ball control before moving to more challenging implements. Each lesson builds upon previous learning whilst introducing new challenges, creating a scaffolded approach that ensures all students experience success.

Lesson 1

How can I use my whole body to successfully catch and control a rolling ball?
Key Objectives:
- • To be able to receive a rolling ball with control and accuracy
- • To develop hand-eye coordination when stopping moving balls

How can we use our feet like gentle hands to control and send a ball to friends?
Key Objectives:
- • To be able to stop a rolling ball using different parts of the foot
- • To be able to send a ball accurately to a partner using the inside of the foot

- • To demonstrate control when stopping a rolling ball
