This unit builds fundamental netball skills through a carefully sequenced progression from individual techniques to collaborative team play. Year 3 students develop confidence with three core passing types whilst learning to read the game through movement, positioning, and tactical awareness. The emphasis is on creating successful team experiences where every student contributes meaningfully to possession and scoring opportunities.

Lesson 1

How can we use chest passes to keep possession and work as a team?

Lesson 2
Big Question:
How can clever dodging help us escape from defenders and create scoring opportunities?
Key Objectives:
- • Recognise the need to use dodging to get 'free' from opposition players
- • Demonstrate dodging techniques to get 'free' from defenders
Lesson 3
Big Question:
How can we work together as a team to create space and build attacking plays that are hard for defenders to stop?
Key Objectives:
- • To play effectively in attacking and defending zones using spatial awareness
- • To demonstrate collaborative attacking play through communication and movement
Lesson 4
Big Question:
How can we use clever passing to create scoring opportunities and outsmart our opponents?
Key Objectives:
- • To develop the bounce pass technique using both one and two hands
- • To understand and apply the 1-metre distance rule in game situations
Lesson 5
Big Question:
How can we make our passes travel further to reach teammates in better positions?
Key Objectives:
- • To throw over longer distances using the shoulder pass technique
- • To recognise when to use different passes based on distance and game situations
