This unit empowers Year 4 students to understand their physical capabilities through systematic exploration of fitness components. By starting and ending with personal assessment, students develop ownership of their fitness journey whilst building knowledge of speed, strength, coordination, agility, balance and stamina. The focus on personal improvement rather than comparison creates an inclusive environment where every student can identify and celebrate their progress.

Lesson 1

- • To complete baseline fitness assessments with accurate measurement and recording

How can proper technique help us run faster and more efficiently?

- • To develop correct sprinting technique with coordinated arm and leg movement
- • To improve speed through proper body positioning and stride mechanics

How can we use our own body weight to build strength and endurance?

- • To develop strength using body weight exercises performed with control
- • To understand how different exercises target different muscle groups
