This unit introduces Year 4 students to lacrosse through a carefully structured progression from individual ball control to sophisticated team play. The emphasis is on building confidence with the lacrosse stick whilst developing tactical awareness that transfers to other invasion games. Through purposeful skill development and increasingly complex game scenarios, students learn to make quick decisions under pressure whilst working collaboratively to achieve team objectives.

Lesson 1
Big Question:
How can following your pass help create better attacking opportunities in lacrosse?
Key Objectives:
- • Pass and receive the ball with a lacrosse stick to follow a pass and create more space for teammates
- • Work as a team to attack a goal and move to space effectively
Lesson 2

How can we maintain control of the ball while moving at speed under pressure?
Key Objectives:
- • To run with the ball under pressure while maintaining control
- • To move into space at speed to effectively pass and catch the ball

How can we use clever passing to keep the ball and build successful attacks?
Key Objectives:
- • Keep possession of the ball using a range of passes to maintain possession
- • Implement the correct type of throw to maintain possession in different situations

Big Question:
How can we combine accuracy, power and timing to score goals effectively in lacrosse?
Key Objectives:
- • To develop accurate shooting technique over short distances
- • To apply correct stick positioning and body mechanics for power and accuracy

How can we use space effectively to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities in lacrosse?

- • To receive the ball and turn effectively into available space
- • To change direction and speed whilst running with the ball under control
