This unit takes Year 2 students on a systematic journey through sending and receiving skills using different body parts and equipment. The progression from whole-body rolling to implement-based control builds confidence whilst developing fundamental movement patterns that underpin all future ball sports. Through carefully sequenced challenges, students develop accuracy, control, and spatial awareness whilst learning to work collaboratively with partners.

Lesson 1

- • To understand how to receive a ball safely using proper technique

How can we use our body to track and stop a moving ball safely?
Key Objectives:
- • To be able to receive a rolling ball with control
- • To demonstrate body positioning behind the ball

How can we use different parts of our feet to control and send a ball accurately to our teammates?

- • To develop the ability to stop, send and receive a ball using feet
- • To improve ball control and tracking skills

How can we use our feet to accurately send and receive a ball with control?
Key Objectives:
- • To develop sending and receiving a ball with your feet
- • To demonstrate tracking and stopping skills using inside of foot
Lesson 5
Big Question:
How can we use our hands, eyes and feet together to catch a ball successfully?
Key Objectives:
- • To develop two-handed catching technique with increased accuracy
- • To catch balls both after one bounce and without a bounce

How can we use different types of passes to score points while moving around defenders?

- • To be able to throw and catch a ball accurately
- • To be able to move to catch a ball thrown by a partner

- • To understand correct hockey stick grip and stance
