This foundational unit introduces Reception students to the fundamentals of safe movement and co-operation in PE. The emphasis is on developing spatial awareness, following instructions, and building confidence in a structured physical environment. Through progressive activities, students learn essential PE behaviours whilst developing basic ball handling skills and social skills like turn-taking and partner work.

Lesson 1

How can we move safely and follow instructions to keep ourselves and others safe during PE?

- • To follow simple movement instructions accurately and quickly
- • To demonstrate safe stopping techniques in various movement activities

How can we show amazing control when we stop our bodies and our balls?

- • To stop safely and develop control when using a ball
