Exam practice · AI marking

Set exam questions. Get them marked against the scheme. Keep the final say.

Exam classes give your GCSE and IGCSE PE groups original exam-style questions aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE PE syllabus, marked against their mark scheme in under a minute, with every mark yours to check before a student sees it. More boards and levels are on the way.

Set work in minutes, not evenings

Pick questions from the bank by topic, marks, command word and question type, and preview the paper exactly as your class will see it, mark scheme alongside. Set it as a test, an activity or homework. If a question needs a steer, add your own marking instructions and the marker follows them.

  • TestMarked after the whole paper is handed in.
  • ActivityEach answer is marked as the student checks it, with another go if they need one.
  • HomeworkMarked after hand-in, with a deadline. Late work is still kept and still marked.

Students join with a code, not a spreadsheet

Share a six-character code or a QR code and they are in, on their own phone. They can practise one topic or the whole course, and their home screen shows the three topics they most need to work on. In an activity, a wrong answer earns another go, with a hint that gets more direct each time.

Every answer, marked against the mark scheme

The marker reads the marking points, alternatives and guidance for that question, then shows the student their mark, what they got right and what was missing. Choose examiner-style feedback, or a guided style that nudges them towards the answer. A blank scores zero without going near the marker, and anything the marker is unsure of is flagged for you.

Three sample answers to one question, marked the same way. Switch between them.

Feedback style
🩸Circulatory system
explain4 marks

Explain how the cardiovascular system responds to the start of exercise.

Heart rate goes up so more oxygen gets to the working muscles, and blood is redirected away from the digestive system.

0/4

Mark scheme points matched

  • Heart rate increases
  • More oxygen delivered to the working muscles
  • Blood redirected to the working muscles

Points to work on

  • Stroke volume increases

What they are told

Three marks. Heart rate, oxygen delivery and the redirection of blood are all credited. The fourth marking point, that the heart pumps more blood per beat, is missing.

You keep the red pen

Every mark comes with the reason it was given and how confident the marker was. Agree with it, or change it with a reason and a note for the student. Rewrite the feedback if you would put it differently. Your corrections go back to the marker for that question, and a release ladder decides what students see and when: nothing yet, the score, the wrong answers, or full feedback.

Strengths and weaknesses by topic

Every marked answer adds to a picture of the class by topic, weakest first, and a grid of every student against every topic. Count set work, practice or both, and the latest, best or every attempt. Students see the same picture on their side, as what is going well and what to work on, with a practise button on each topic.

Marking you can switch on. Data you can defend.

The department decides where marking runs and what leaves the building.

  • Unlimited marking, within fair use

Students can have as many answers marked as they need. There is no allowance to set and nothing to top up. A fair-use limit sits well above what a student gets through in a day.

  • Off until you switch it on

Practice is off for every new class until you turn it on. Hide the numeric mark if you would rather students read the feedback first.

  • Names never leave the school

The marker receives the answer and the mark scheme, never a student's name or email.

Questions about exam practice

The ones departments ask before they add it.

Which specifications does it cover?

Cambridge IGCSE PE first: original exam-style questions and mark schemes, written by The PE Dept to cover the syllabus topic by topic. They are not past papers and are not produced or endorsed by Cambridge. More exam boards and levels are on the way; tell us which specification you teach and we will let you know when it is ready.

How does the AI marking work?

Each answer is marked against the mark scheme stored for that question: the marking points, the alternatives and the guidance. Students see which points were credited and which were missed. Anything the marker is unsure of is flagged for you to look at, and you can change any mark.

Do students see their marks straight away?

That is your call. In an activity each answer is marked as they check it. For a test or homework the paper is marked after hand-in, and a release ladder decides what they see: nothing yet, the score, the wrong answers, or full feedback. You can also hide the numeric mark altogether.

How much marking is included?

As much as your students do. There is no daily allowance to set and nothing to top up. Marking is subject to fair use, with a limit well above what a student gets through in a day, and blank answers never count.

Who can use the student portal?

Students aged 13 and over, joining with the code their teacher gives them. They sign in with a code sent to their email, a password, or a Google or Microsoft account, and there is nothing to install.

Is it priced per teacher or per school?

Per school. Exam practice is added to a School plan, and every teacher in the department can set work, review marks and see the topic picture.

Practical PE is assessed too

Head, Heart and Hands assessment covers the doing, a few taps per class.
