This unit introduces Year 1 students to the joy of movement and fitness through playful, age-appropriate activities that build fundamental motor skills. Rather than traditional fitness training, the focus is on developing body awareness, coordination, and stamina through engaging activities like hula hoops, skipping, and circuit games. The unit cleverly disguises fitness development as fun exploration, helping students discover what their bodies can do whilst building positive associations with physical activity that will serve them throughout their lives.
